Biography

a short biography of Bruce Walrath

I was introduced to trials a little late in life to become much of a contender. my firstĀ  trials bike was a Honda TL250, I got a modern GAS GAS 320 very soon after and learned to love the sport. Then the two culprits that introduced me to the sport suggested we ride some vintage events. While this all seemed like a good idea as it would mean more time riding, it put me back on a stock vintage bike, which is what I was trying to get away from after the TL250 experience. The culprits I mentioned earlier are very good friends of long standing, who spent long hours helping me to learn the skills that have helped to keep my clutch levers in one piece. I really like riding with these guys, so to address the bike problem as I saw it I called on my many years of welding experience on highway bridges, and design, fabrication, and welding of class 8 truck and equipment modifications. I came up with the first NTA cycle, built with a Yamaha TY250 engine and some other donor parts from the same. I built the frame, swing arm, fuel tank, and air box to match as close as possible to the geometry of a modern trials bike. I still have this machine and compete in a full vintage series with it each year, it is a bit ugly but works very well. In fact the feel and handling of this fist bike as prompted many who have ridden it to have me build a one off machine for them. I want to thank all the folks I have met through trials over the years for the experience and friendship.
